More than learning Chinese. A way to understand where language can take you.

South Coast Chinese Language School has provided Chinese language education to children and families across the Illawarra since July 2002. We help students develop Mandarin language skills, cultural awareness and a lasting interest in learning — in an environment designed to feel engaging, supportive and achievable.

语

Build the language

Listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed together, so children build practical skills rather than isolated knowledge.

文

Understand the culture

Language makes more sense when children can connect words with stories, traditions and everyday cultural context.

信

Grow with confidence

Qualified and experienced teachers support students at an appropriate pace and encourage them to participate without fear of mistakes.

Structured enough to progress. Human enough to enjoy.

01
A clear learning pathway

Learning develops progressively across age and stage, helping children strengthen skills over time rather than simply completing disconnected activities.

02
Active learning, not only textbooks

Reading, writing, games, creative activities and group participation make new language easier to understand, practise and remember.

03
Language connected to life

Culture and real communication give Mandarin meaning beyond the classroom and help children stay curious about learning.

From first words to confident expression.

We welcome students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Our curriculum is aligned with the NSW Modern Languages K–10 Syllabus and develops listening, speaking, reading and writing through meaningful activities, games and exercises.

STAGE 1

K–2

Building familiarity with Mandarin through sounds, everyday words, speaking, early reading and writing, and playful participation.

STAGE 2

Years 3–5

Expanding vocabulary and literacy while developing more independent communication, comprehension and written expression.

STAGE 3

Year 6+

Developing richer language, stronger reading and writing, and deeper cultural understanding for continued learning.
